Filmmaker Robbert Alblas heeft weer een pareltje van een video, gemaakt tijdens de Group C-race van Spa Classic 2023. We rijden mee met Philip Kadoorie in de Porsche 962, een auto waarvan we onlangs nog een uitgebreide review zagen.
In het veld van Group C-auto’s rijden onder andere de Sauber C11, Jaguar XJR9, Spice C12 en diverse 962’s. Dit roze exemplaar had al tien jaar niet geracet maar wist de race met 45 seconden voorsprong te winnen. Hoe dat zit, legt de coureur hieronder uit.
“The race was incredible, we all started on slicks as the conditions were dry with no rain in sight. As the rain fell, intermediates would have been the perfect tire as it wasn’t wet all the way around the circuit, I thought the most important factor was going fast enough for aero grip, heat in the tires, and heat in the brakes. Others took an extra pitstop for wets, I stayed on slicks throughout the race. We finished more than 45 seconds ahead of the next car.”
“My 962, Pinky, has not been used in anger in 10+ years and I have recently bought her and brought it back racing. We need to do a full rebuild at the end of the season to make the car more competitive, but we have not had the time yet. An example of her not being in top form is the fact that even the windshield wiper didn’t work! Thank you guys for the positive messages, I’m lucky to drive her and she took good care of me!”
